It’s finally here. Facebook is allowing you to sign up for Vanity URL’s like Twitter has done. i.e. Facebook.com/YOURNAME/
It will be available starting this Saturday at 12:01AM June 13th. You can count on me being up to get mine. YOu will have 3 days. That’s it.
Some Rules (from Facebook Blog):
Facebook usernames will be available in basic text forms, and you can only choose a single username for your profile and for each of the Pages that you administer. Your username must be at least five characters in length and only include alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9), or a period or full stop (”.”). While usernames are currently available only for Romanized text, we’re looking at how we might support non-Romanized characters in the future.

Whoa! its been a bit. Here is show #30 of the RoadWarriorShow.com. We talked about GeoSocial Networking and how it ties to GPS devices. We didn’t have sound for the first 5o seconds or so. Still working through technical.
Also, the great free GeoSocial tool from who else? but Google. Google Latitude is a great way to be able to track your friends, colleagues, clients & more.

Facebook recently had a Facelift. Whether you like the changes or you hate them, Facebook did add one great feature, what I call Social Organizing.

It allows you to see feeds and conversations in groups or lists. So now, you can check out all the friends news at once. Or if you want to see certain sections of friends, you can now get above the noise.
What is up with all this “tweeting?” Should you twitter? Is there any value in it? Twitter has become all the rage lately. But does it make sense to get on Twitter.
Twitter allows you to reach people on even a bigger scale because there’s no limit on followers like friends in Facebook.
There are real-time conversations with real people and you can talk to virtually anyone.
How might you benefit from Twitter? Here is a quick list.
Broaden your network - You can really meet great “tweeples” on Twitter. Find folks you might collaborate with, learn from and of course prospective clients.
Learn - People in your industry, Thought Leaders and more are on Twitter. Giving their ideas, thoughts, suggestions to change business, processes and life.
Market your work - If you can give some great tips, shocase your knowledge giveaway some intellectual capital, people will find you. Someone will find your tip & tell others and ultimately reach out to you if you are giving high value.
There are much more but bottom line is if you haven’t tried it. Give it a try. See how you might use it. It takes a week or two before you might get it. If not, you learn something new. More on Twitter in future posts.
